Name: Rob Derry on May 29, 2007Comments: How ridiculous! 10 imports are kept on in the Elite League to "pass on their experience to british players learning the trade", yet that concept is not deemed appropriate in a development league. Yet another example of the total mismanagement of British hockey. Who are the players in ENL supposed to learn from if they are playing with inexperienced players all of the time A player who can't quite make the EPL, will be forced to retire at 25! This rule will achieve absolutely nothing positive.Flag

Name: Nikki Diddams on May 29, 2007Comments: This is stupid, they should have just re-introduced an under 21's league. By doing this their taking our league away from us. No team can afford to loose their players to age discrimination at any levelFlag

Name: Ross McDougall on May 29, 2007Comments: Having Senior players in ENL hockey is vital to the development of younger talent. The kids need someone to look up to and help guide them in their hockey. You learn as much from the players around as you do from your coaches! I think limiting the numbers would be a good idea. 5 is a good number but to reduce this totally will be to the detriment of development in British hockey.Flag

Name: Seb Chiffers on May 29, 2007Comments: I thought this was a sketch out of "the Two Ronnies" when i first read it... Force hundreds of good players out of the game because of their age, not ability, is beyond insane. Players should get to play on ability, not age.Flag

Name: Owen Murphy on May 29, 2007Comments: If you havent made it in the Elite or National league by the time your 20 you aint gonna make it!!!!!!!! Doesnt mean you cant be of a decent standard and still play in a good league (Current ED1). Also how is this going to help the "Main Team" rinks, Invicta, Streatham, Lee Valley, Oxford....3 of which have "b" standard U19's who need the older players to continue to learn from when out of juniors! If this stupid rule comes into place thenan "English League" much like the Scotish league needs to be set up. You CANNOT have a developement league when players from the before mntioned teams are at the highest level they can get to without traveling across the country for £50 a weekend!!!!!! It won't work and Mr Taggard has made the worst call of his Hockey life....Well done!!!!!!!!!Flag

Name: Il Passino on May 29, 2007Comments: This is ridiculous. Over-25s are to ENIHL what imports are to the Elite League. Veteran players raise the standard and pass on their experience to the up and coming players around them, as well as giving the young players something to aspire to, when a spot on a roster in a higher league may seem unattainable.Flag

Name: Michael Baker on May 29, 2007Comments: EIHA you are killing the game for the older players. Where does this leave the older players Where do they go The majority are unable to play in the EPL and the ELITE league. What do you propose to do about it You need to think more carefully at this new ruling and think about what the supporters really want in this country. At Streatham we have a vast majority of under 25s at the club, but also senior players. I am not too sure whether I want to pay the admission price by 2013 of seeing just under 25s play. You need to rethink your course of action please. Thank you.Flag

Name: Dave Fairhurst on May 29, 2007Comments: Very poorly thought out by the EIHA. Do they not know that U19s currently have the opportunity to play ENIHL if they are good enough and in many cases border line but the potential to develop is recognised. I believe all ENIHL teams give their U19s the chance to play and develop, and the best way of doing this is by playing with players with more experience and some quality guys who can impart thier knowledge and support development. This decision would lower the quality of the league which has been improving rapidly over the last three years and ruin the hockey careers of a lot of very good players. And please don't say they can go and play rec, it's not the same thing at all.Flag

Name: Andy Mason on May 29, 2007Comments: Let's hope the EIHA take note of the overwhelming strength of feeling and reverse or at least drastically revise their decision. Paying spectators will not pay to watch what they perceive to be junior hockey. This season the ENL had the makings of being the most competitive and evenly balanced league seen recently. I feel desperately sorry for the over 25s around the country who may find themselves with nowhere to play after many years of committment to the sport. I also think that the junior development will suffer as will these over 25s who are too old to play still be involved in coaching.Flag
