ATTN: Dean of Student Services

Dear Laney College,

We the students of Laney Community College, are petitioning to be added to ENGLISH 5: Critical Thinking and Reading section 21877.

We have diligently attended class for the past two weeks and have invested hours in the class and have submitted class assignments. We receieved news from our professer, Dr. Brenda Harker that she was unable to manually drop students from her roster that have not been in attendance since the first day of the course. We understand that there is a new system in place and there may have been some miscommunication from the university to staff as in how students can be added to the course. With that being the case it is unfortunate that you are depriving faculty from their leverage in advocating for students like ourselves who are truely interested in benefiting and learning from the course. It would essentially be a waste of space and time to not have the seats full in the English 5 course.

This is a DRAFT of the Petition Letter that will be given to the university. THE TEXT ABOVE WILL BE RE-DRAFTED AND I WILL ONLY PRINT A FINAL VERSION OF WHAT THE MAJORITY OF US WILL ACCEPT. IF YOU ARE SERIOUS ABOUT ADDIND THIS COURSE WE NEED TO ADVOCATE FOR OURSELVES AS STUDENTS. THIS OPTION IS AVAILABLE TO US, THE MORE STUDENTS PARTICIPATE THE MORE EFFECTIVE OUR LETTER AND STRONGER OUR CASE. IT IS OUR RIGHT AS STUDENTS TO ADVOCATE.  PLEASE JOIN.
