    Comments: Dear Mayor Bloomberg: At a time when we face the unfortunate risk of terrorism it is the height of folly to reduce fire protection. Engine Company 278 in Sunset Park serves a densely populated section of Brooklyn with many older buildings which contain many substandard housing conditions making them especially vulnerable to fire. Also because of the additional responsibility to respond to non-fire emergencies it would place many elderly and infirmed residents of the area at increased risk if Engine Company 278 is eliminated. Therefore, in light of these and other relevant facts, please spare Engine Company 278 from elimination. Thank you. Yours truly, Christopher Ikaris Brooklyn

What excuses will you give WHEN (not if) this short-sighted action kills someone KEEP THESE FIREHOUSES OPEN. With the type of leadership you are showing, it makes more sense to shut down Gracie Mansion to save the city money.
