Current New York state gun laws are stringent enough and should not be modified to make it more difficult for a citizen to obtain a weapon. Any modifications to the current gun laws in an attempt to make them more stringent would adversely affect honest, law-abiding citizens who are seeking a weapon for personal reasons. The issue is not creating stringent gun laws that prevent citizens from obtaining weapons; the real issue is enforcing our current laws and keep guns out of the hands of criminals who misuse them.
