Do you agree: • The McGill campus buildings are not environmentally sustainable • Excess lighting is being used to light up campus buildings at night • Campus computers should be shut down when not in use • The current utilization of energy on campus is inefficient • These small steps can lead to greater sustainability for the University, as well as saving money (and lowering your tuition) by following a more sustainable energy policy Some facts on energy usage on campus: • The campus can save financially: o 38% with the implementation of new and more efficient lights o 30% with the implementation of any sort of occupancy sensors • The University has a campus wide policy to decrease energy usage by 15% Our goal from this project: • Increase awareness to McGill facilities that excessive night-time electricity usage is unnecessary • Impose and suggest a better, more efficient lighting implementation strategy for several campus buildings and libraries • Potentially to collaborate with McGill University’s Office of Sustainability and recognize this environmental problem on campus If you agree with any or all of the points above, please sign our petition in agreement that the campus should be more sustainable in its energy/electricity usage! Thank you for your support, Abhi Austin Matt
