The petition

This petition is about personally doing something positive about the energy situation in South Africa.

The short-to-medium term supply can't and wont cope (for a variety of reasons that are better covered elsewhere); Limiting our demand is the only viable option, and could also place South Africa as one of the global pioneers in climate change (even if out of necessity).

The challenge here is for individuals and companies to pledge to cut their own usage by at least 10% - not that hard.

PLEASE ADD YOUR NAME OR COMPANY BELOW IF YOU ARE GOING TO CUT YOUR ENERGY USE BY 10%; AND IF YOU HAVE AN ENERGY-SAVING IDEA ADD IT IN TO 'COMMMENTS'

Top individual tips so far:
ditch a/c & open a window; geysers timed & limited temperature; chargers out the wall when not charging; avoid lifts & take stairs...& what else?

Top company tips so far:
a/c on timer & zones; lights on movement sensor after hours; boiler for bathroom water off; all pcs properly off after work...& what else?

Lets see how many of us can reduce demand together - please pass this website on to those who will also think its a good idea.

Cheers,
Peter Boyd
