Name: Jon Povill on Apr 27, 2011Graduating Year.: 1970Comments: The notion of moving the student section to a single position behind a basket is unconscionable. If UCLA is to have a true home court advantage it must have the active support and participation of students. I was fortunate enough to attend UCLA during the time of Coach Wooden, and there is no doubt in my mind that he would abhor the current plan. UCLA cannot compete for recruits against other major college basketball programs in the absence of the strongest possible student support of the program. The first step towards reestablishing this support must be to restore the student seating to the sidelines as it was designated in the original Campaign of Champions pamphlet.Flag

Name: Eric Jaeger on Apr 27, 2011Graduating Year.: 1990Comments: The reassignment of the entire student section to be behind a basket is a travesty. It is a decidedly short term decision with mid and long term consequences that negatively impact student involvement, home court advantage, crowd noise and excitement, university image, athlete recruitment, ticket sales and ultimately revenue generation. Put the students back on the sidelines, wrapping around at least one baseline, as was depicted in previous New Pauley marketing materials. Thank you.Flag

Name: Michael Bobola on Apr 27, 2011Graduating Year.: 2002Comments: Pauley Pavillion is one of the quietest arenas I've been to- Look at OSU, Duke, Uconn- television coverage of the students and crowd noise are an exciting part of the game and add to our home court advantage. Leave the students on the sidelines and keep to wealthy, old, wuiet alum up in the midrange and rafter seats.Flag

Name: Ainslie Cheung on Apr 27, 2011Graduating Year.: 2006Comments: It's complete bullshit to take away the student sections of such a holy cathedral like Pauley Pavillion and place them on one sideline. It's almost like taking Jesus and the last supper and moving all of his disciples to one edge of the table. THE ESSENCE OF COLLEGE BASKETBALL LIES IN ITS STUDENT SECTION. To take that away is nothing short of sacrilegious. Move the students back to where they belong and restore the faith in UCLA Basketball.Flag

Name: Arbi Poulatian on Apr 27, 2011Graduating Year.: 1998Comments: It's amazing to me how much UCLA athletics has digressed compared to the four years I was fortunate enough to attend our great institution (1995-1998). I have always given the administration the benefit of the doubt and trusted they will right the ship and make good decisions. The latest handling of the student section debacle along with the inability to keep Coach Caldwell on our sideline are reasons for concern, it is becoming more evident that perhaps the current administration is not capable of returning UCLA to the top of the mountain, where we as UCLA alumni, students, and supporters justly expect them to be.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Apr 27, 2011Graduating Year.: 2000Comments: Elite programs win and market their image well. Having the students sit court-side helps UCLA on both fronts by creating a home court advantage as well as displaying a depth of UCLA fan support on TV. Both in function and in image, I find it alarming that UCLA students are not the entire wall of the court side seats, shown on TV and in place to help UCLA win title number 12. Please correct this mistake.Flag
