Comments: It would be possible to do a joint student section on the sideline if you took one of the 3 sections on the sideline and added the two sections behind it, not next to it, as the other segments of the student section. Then you have a joint student section that is still on the sideline.

Comments: The students need to impact the ENTIRE game, not just one half. Our team needs that energy, excitement, and support that the students bring. Students should have the best seats possible to cheer on their fellow Bruins. Students cheering for students.

Comments: We need the sideline student section to help UCLA have a true home-court advantage, and UCLA athletics are for the benefit of enrolled students first, not alumni, boosters, and other fans.

Comments: I attended every UCLA men's basketball home game from 1963-1973, from the 30-0 Cinderella team through the legendary decade of winning teams. My friends and I were among the few attending in the early days, and we brought back the words to to sing the fight song and alma mater. Looking back, our presence at the sidelines floor level, whether it was at the Sports Arena or Pauley Pavilion, was what college basketball is all about...students rooting for their team, singing the songs, learning the cheers, calling out to individual players who scored and showed great team spirit. My daughter enters UCLA this coming Fall, and I would hate to think she would never have such an opportunity as we did in the Wooden years.

Comments: The University of California is supposed to serve the community by giving back to society. It was founded not to pursue financial gain or profit but to enrich the community. The structure of the New Pauley should adhere to those principles. Make John Wooden proud.

Comments: I was a Coaches Roundtable member from 1996 til about 2002. I eventually gave up my membership because they moved my basketball seats from the floor (106) across from the recruits and players and moved me to the mid-section. The reason given? They were converting all the seats to student seats. I initially supported this, but warned if there weren't students sitting there I would cancel my tix. Guess what happened. There have never been students sitting there. I don't know who you are giving the tix to, but they are not students. Other arenas have dynamic fan bases that create an electric environment. Pauley is a great FAIL. Get rid of the old donors who complain if someone around them is too loud. Invite in the students, who can't pay, but will create an environment that vaults UCLA back to the top wish list of recruits cause it's so damned fun to be there!

Comments: I'm not even affiliated with UCLA; I am with another Pac-12 school (Oregon St.). But I am a fan of what is Pac-12 athletics and traditions, and feel the proposed move will detract seriously from the general atmosphere of college basketball at UCLA. Further, it is a disturbing move that disregards tradition, as well as the contributions made by students, and the commitments made to them.

Comments: I'm not a rabid sports fan who attends or watches on TV every game (altho I did manage to win a basketball pool one-time)...but one of my favorite moments in my undergrad experience was camping outside of Pauley for an important game & later sitting with my friends in the student section, which spanned the length of the basketball court. Being someone who doesn't know every little detail of how the game is played, I would have gotten a lot less out of the game play if we'd been seated behind a basket...essentially foreshortening the action, perhaps even obscuring it. I am very disappointed in UCLA's proposed change to the location of student seating. If asked, I'm sure that many alumni will tell you that their support of the game was cemented during their student experience attending UCLA basketball games at Pauley. I think that changing the location of the student seating is not only short-changing the students, but also is a plan that neglects to look at the longterm support from incoming students who eventually will be alumni themselves.
