Name: Tyler Glaze on Apr 26, 2011Graduating Year.: 2009Comments: The decision to move the student section at Pauley Pavilion has corrupted some of my best memories as a student. As a recent alumni and future donor, I demand that the students be returned to their rightful place along the sideline, as well as behind a basket, as proposed in the original phases of the Pauley Pavilion renovation project.Flag

That means that I will not attend any UCLA athletics events or purchase any UCLA gear . It hurts to not support the school I love so much but I know that a change needs to be made, and I cannot support this current athletic regime,Flag

However, while doing everything in pursuit of pleasing The Almighty Donor, think about how banishing the students from where they have belonged since Coach Wooden opened Pauley will affect donations five years from now, ten years from now...even fifty years from now.Flag

Some of my best memories of my college days were being there, and as an alumni a big part of going to the games is not just watching the players but also seeing the students there - you have to realize that that is part of the spectacle, part of the draw, part of the product.Flag

Name: Enoch Ku on Apr 27, 2011Graduating Year.: 2009Comments: It is sad that my university has stripped students of a once in a lifetime opportunity to sit court side and watch the most storied college basketball program play basketball. Relegating students to what amounts to "cheap seats" demonstrates that the athletic department does not truly have the student body's best interest at heart, but rather a focus on making money. I will never donate money or spend time on a school that doesn't care about students.Flag

Name: Stephen J. Herzberg on Apr 27, 2011Graduating Year.: 1966Comments: In a building that honors tradition and Nell and John Wooden, on a campus in which maximizing the student experience should be the touchstone of decisions like this, it is important to honor the principles and legacy of Coach by respecting the students as we know he would have wanted done. When Pauley opened, the students had the sideline seats and the section extended to the upper decks. The process taking the students' prime seats and relocating them in less desirable areas is the shameful equivalent of the policy that removed Native Americans from their lands and put them on reservation land no one wanted.Flag

Name: Ryan Popovich on Apr 27, 2011Graduating Year.: 2002Comments: The seating at new Pauley is a joke. The best part of the game atmosphere is having the students right there on the court, getting the players pumped up. No offense to the older alumni, but we just don't fire up the players like the young, energetic, rowdy students do.Flag

Name: Michael Winston on Apr 27, 2011Graduating Year.: 2010Comments: Put the students back on the sidelines where they belong! UCLA is better than this, and we as alumni hold our athletic department's officials to the same standard of excellence as our student athletes. Don't sacrifice your integrity and responsibility as a representative of the Bruin community by going for the quick buck. It will only alienate young alumni like myself and current students whom athletics will depend on in coming decades for donations.Flag
