Comments: UCLA students are not only the most spirited, involved, and supportive fans, we're also the peers and friends of the guys on the court. This is college basketball, not the NBA, and the visibility of the students who actually attend the university - as well as our right as students to be seated in the best seats the university can provide - should always be given highest priority. The seating arrangement should match what was depicted originally in the fund raising pamphlet.

Comments: I have to side with the students on this. The process is suspect. The early decision to move the students was a bad one, based on what appeared to be faulty if not biased reasoning. As a former student who enjoyed sitting court side in the glorious '70's, who participated in the vocal support of our great teams, I believe that the students of today and tomorrow should continue that tradition. While the big money donors pay many of the big bills, they also sit quiet and smuggly by watching the action...not so the students. The students are the heart and soul of the team, without their presence and support the game doesnt get off the court.

Comments: Most premier college basketball programs maintain a home court advantage by having raucous students line the court. Pauley is already a quieter arena compared to others, i.e. Duke or UNC, so putting them further away from the court will lessen the power of the Bruins' home court. The Morgan Center should do the right thing and not give into boosters who will not help cheer on our team.

Comments: The most insulting aspect of this move was citing other Pac-12 schools that have banished their students to behind the basket! We're UCLA, we're a blue-blood basketball campus. Duke, Michigan State, and other top-tier basketball programs keep their students courtside. So should we!

Comments: I am a former season ticket holder and I have been to Pauley for over 300 games uin my life. As I get older I get tears in my eyes every time I walk through the doors. Whenever I am in town I attend games and moving the students behind the basket is purely stupid! yes, I like a good seat, but leaving the student secion the way it was is best for the school going forward. These students will bring their kids back and show them how great it would be to be in the student section. This game is about the students and the school and the kids on the court are not paid! They are playling for their scfhool and their fellow students. They need the students support from the middle of the court!

Comments: UCLA shouldn't be soliciting money with one plan, only to switch after the plan is funded, just to raise more money at the expense of the students, whose families are already paying much increased fees, to a school that has so much. This is college, let the kids have the experience we all had. What message are we sending with this deception? Ric Betchley

Comments: As a graduate of UCLA and UNC i am uniquely qualified to speak to the similarities and differences between the 2 schools. Over the past few years the on the court and recruiting differences are obvious. I can tell you that the passion among the overall student body is there is very different (in favor of UNC). Morgan Center get your act together. UCLA is last compared to the other big 5 (UCLA, UNC, uk, dook, kansas) in student passion. Part of it how students are treated. UNC students sit together and are very near the court. Did you know all UNC student tickets are free. FREE. INCLUDING ALL HOME FOOTBALL & BASKETBALL games As a UCLA student i sacrificed and went to SEA for the final four in '95. I camped out for 2 nights in a tent when Cal and JKidd came to town in '94. That passion still lives within me. By removing students from the game, plan on having a lifeless commuter campus.

Comments: The teams and the arena belong to the students. Shortsighted decisions such as this never work out well. Since this atmosphere creates excitement, and excitement creates better recruiting opportunities, UCLA will benefit enormously in the future by having a lively, student-centered crowd. People will fil those seats if the Bruins are winning. Besides, isn't the end-zone where the downtown Los Angeles school puts their students? Don't we want to be better than that almost for that reason alone?

Comments: Some of my best college memories are from sitting in the student section on the sidelines of some fantastic Bruin basketball games. I think it is tragic if they remove the opportunity for future generations of students to see and feel the same excitement and energy of being front and center to help motivate our team to victory!

Comments: Camping out for the sideline seats at Pauley was one of the best experiences during my undergraduate years at UCLA. The team has stated on several instances that the courtside Den had made a huge difference in our home court advantage and recent success of our basketball program. While a unified section would be nice, we expected that this would be done in a way that kept our sideline seats. Do not take this opportunity away from the students, our team, and future Bruins.

Pauley has lacked a true home court advantage in recent years and moving the students to behind the basket would turn Pauley into a mausoleum. Please put the students at half court, on the sidelines and in full view of the TV cameras. Brian McNamara B.A. 1993 M.B.A 1999
