We are hold ourselves to a higher standard, and for that I urge the Athletics Department to reinstate the original plan!Flag

We bring energy to the entire arena, and we wouldn't be able to effectively show our school spirit if we were behind the baskets.Flag

Name: Jessica Lau on Apr 29, 2011Graduating Year.: 2008Comments: In order to return UCLA to its former basketball powerhouse glory, we need a strong student section to give us a true homecourt advantage. The best way to do this would to put the students closer to the court so their voices could be heard!Flag

Name: Kian Tehrani on Apr 29, 2011Graduating Year.: 2004Comments: Removing students from the sidelines and relegating them to behind the baskets would be highly detrimental to home-court advantage...something our players highly depend on. The student presence at schools like UNC, Duke, and Kansas has a profound effect on the outcome of close games and it's shameful to think UCLA would take away that from our athletes. Give the students a chance to be HEARD!Flag

I was a student in the 70's and Coach Wooden was a delight to watch and he enjoyed our enthusiasm across from his bench. How dare you banish the student section when student fees are paying so much of the renovation. Leave the student section on the sidelines UCLA "74 and Chancellor associate.Flag

Name: John Meler on Apr 29, 2011Graduating Year.: 1973Comments: Is this some bad joke? Pauley exists for the benefit of the students. There used to be a framed Mission Statement in the doorways stating such. When did the students become the enemy of Morgan Center? The students used to have the whole sideline up to the rafters. Pauley rocked with enthusiasm, team support, and championships. The opinions of the Den leaders and USAC are not necessarily the wishes of the majority of the students. If the students are being relegated to the cheap seats then what is the point of having games between two schools? This idiotic stunt to make a few more bucks off basketball will backfire. It is a going out of business strategy. You are alienating the most enthusiastic supporters of the team, the future alumni, and the future donors. Tickets sales for the now larger supply of big buck seats will decrease as team performance suffers from lack of student support. Attendance will steadily diminish. The small increase in revenue that you may enjoy for a couple years will not help to improve UCLA athletics over the long term. Football is king. You need to pull out all the stops to give football everything it needs to be successful. No more marathon searches for second and third choice coaches that fit into a "budget" for the short term. Spend money there to make money to insure the long term success of all of the Athletic Programs. UCLA Athletics cannot compete with the Lakers and Dodgers. It needs a strong, emotional fan base to continue to be viable. That can only be cultivated by catering to the current students and former students. This misguided decision needs to be reversed before all future alumni current alumni are alienated.Flag

Name: Brian Bonus on Apr 29, 2011Graduating Year.: 2007Comments: Camping out and staying up all night for those seats created some of my best memories of UCLA and helped build the close relationship I feel with my alma mater today. The idea that future students would be denied the opportunity to be able to support their team from that vantage point is a tragedy for all of UCLA athletics and fandom. While in the short run Pauley might make more money from selling those tickets at a higher price, it also negatively impacts cultivating a thriving student fan base, which is critical to long-term attendance and profit. Please do the right thing for current and future UCLA athletics fans.Flag
