Fox on Apr 26, 2011Graduating Year.: 1971Comments: Athletic events at Pauley are STUDENT events and the students should get the prime seats - this means endline to endline and floor to rafters. That was good enough for Coach Wooden and many, many championship teams, and it should be good enough for the current students.Flag

Name: Hector Miranda on Apr 26, 2011Graduating Year.: 2000, Film and TelevisionComments: Why doesn't the Morgan Center understand that an exciting, electric student section makes it a more intimidating place to play for our opponents, a more enjoyable atmosphere for the fans and alumi, and looks great on Television? Their decision makes no sense whatsoever.Flag

I will accept the return of the students to the sidelines as a measure of good faith that the Morgan Center will continue to work to correct the devastating damages it has brought to Athletics and to the University experience as a whole.Flag

Name: Trisha Ananiades on Apr 26, 2011Graduating Year.: 2004Comments: I do not agree with this bait-and-switch tactic which now relegates the students to worse seats than were previously enjoyed. If this move was done in order to make up a shortfall because there have not been as many new donors as anticipated, then it is a reflection on the plans for the Pauley renovation and not an opportunity to impose a landgrab. Do the right thing and move the students back to the sideline.Flag

Name: Todd Glass on Apr 26, 2011Graduating Year.: 2009Comments: As a recent alumni, I am embarrassed by UCLA and the Morgan Center's blatant disregard for their students. The university is currently facing some extraordinary financial pressures and is becoming increasingly reliant on private donations. Your actions have clearly upset both alumni and current students and, in turn, we have little incentive to support the school and the athletic program. I implore you to reconsider the seating configuration. Ignoring such requests will undoubtedly be detrimental to the future of UCLA and the entire athletic department.Flag

Name: Tristen Sotomayor on Apr 26, 2011Graduating Year.: 1998Comments: UCLA Students do not deserve to have their section snatched away from them. Restoring them to a student section along the lines of that which is outlined in this petition would demonstrate that UCLA puts students before profit, it would demonstrate what is special about collegiate athletics, and most importantly, it would honor and follow the tradition of Coach Wooden and his belief that Pauley Pavilion should first and foremost be about the young people who attend this institution.Flag

Name: Kartik Atyam on Apr 26, 2011Graduating Year.: 2010Comments: It is absolutely ridiculous that the students are not going to b seated with a decent view of the game. Students become alumni (as in myself). If I didn't have the great seats and amazing experience I had on the sidelines, I would have very little incentive to go back to the games and relish in the activity and exuberance of the students. Just because other school are relgating the students to behind the basket, it doesn't mean that we need to degrade our standards just to funnel in a little more money, while losing the excitement from basketball gamesFlag

Name: Alex on Apr 26, 2011Graduating Year.: 2010Comments: Way to sell out UCLA, first saying there is excess money so you lower your Wooden Fund donation level, then saying there isn't enough money for kids to the rafters on the sideline, and duping the kids to "want a unified den section" so you remove their beloved seats. You are pathetic Dan.Flag

Name: Bryan Richards on Apr 26, 2011Graduating Year.: 1993Comments: The UCLA Athletic Dept.'s stupid redesign of Pauley Pavilion has been a process marred by arrogant and disingenuous leadership, unrealistic ticket prices, poor stadium acoustics, the mystifying relegation of students solely to seats behind the backboard, and clueless marketing. The renovation has become an architectural mistake and a PR disaster for the dept. Is anyone in a leadership position at UCLA doing anything to fix the situation?Flag

Liven things up, breathe some fresh air into our renovated arena. Maybe top recruits will consider UCLA and we can win again.Flag

Name: Tom Comstock on Apr 26, 2011Graduating Year.: 1979Comments: I am a season ticket holder for Men's Basketball and Football. I am a loyal fan. I believe strongly that student cheering is one of the most enjoyable parts of going to a game at Pauley. The UCLA basketball experience would be diminished by moving the students. Not going to increase my donation level, which I intended to do, until this situation is rectified.Flag
