Comments: I know of this curse and the story behind it surrounding Chief "Logan". This curse is REAL. The entire state of Ohio was a Sacred Burial and Ritual Grounds for 3 different Tribes of Native Americans. My mother was the human resources manager of the Plain dealer for many years. I remember the meetings between the Tribes Chiefs and the owners about getting rid of the logo. Everytime the owners said know. The Tribesmen made a public display of renewing the curse on the land. They specificly said " Nothing will grow, or prosper. So seeds shall bear fruit here as long as our ancestors are disgraced and disrespected." It was in the middle of downtown public square about 15 years ago, but I've heard talks of it happening again as early as 3 years ago. Why don't you report about this? It's public information. If you let people know the facts. people will wake the hell up! Clevelanders are smart people and some of the most sensible people in this country, but they must be presented with facts before they act upon something that they naturally don't believe in. ""WAKE UP" As long as they have been saying they've cursed us, NO team has won. 60 Years people, since the Indians, The Browns, The Cavs, have won a final game. What does it take to wake ignorant people from their superior racist views that nothing else is possible other than what they believe in?:" You Dee Dee Dee's make me sick and deserve what you get until you open your eyes and open your minds. There world doesn't revolve around you and your beliefs, but all of our beliefs. WAKE UP!

Comments: I love the Tribe, but only because they are my team. I'd love them just as much if they called themselves the Cleveland Pussy Willows. There's no need to continue a symbol that others find offensive. A sport's tradition doesn't have the right to offen.

Comments: Please change the Wahoo icon used by the Cleveland Indians. It is offensive to some people who consider it to be disrespectful and belittling of Native American nations. Since it is not the name "Indians", but the logo itself, it is not a hard thing to do. It would, of course, cause some people money to make the change, but the new logo merchandise will sell just as the present does, especially when the Indians are playing good ball. There is no need, no reason to continue to use such a controversial logo. Baseball is an All American sport and should not offend anyone. Let's remember that we are ALL Americans and that our native peoples have suffered so much already that even a seemingly simple figure can add to the ignominy. We can no longer afford to support alienation of our own citizens to save a logo!.

Comments: Wahoo's face is blood red, directly connected with the racial slur "red skins." The only reason he is not offensive to more people is because people have been programed to not think of Native American as real people like anyone else. People have been programed to believe that the Indians in the westerns were the bad guys, mean and vicious without provocation. Some people that don't have negative feelings about Native Americans, often fail to see us as naturally born people created by God. We put our pants on one leg at a time the same as you. We are not one with nature. We don't talk to animals and we can't make it rain. Yes, we as a people were at war with the United States at some point in time. But it really is not that difficult to see why. We were living here for hundreds of years and others came and took our living areas, our work areas and our recreation areas away. Folks treaties are real legal agreements made between the United States and native nations. Many of them were broken in the name of US expansion. If there really is some kind of curse, it might be because it is never good to mistreat or beat up on anyone because you feel your needs are more important that the other guys.

Comments: As a long time proponent of Chief Wahoo, and thus rejector of the idea that it could be offensive, I finally have come to realize my selfishness in such a position. To think that I, a priviledged white male in a society crafted by priviledged white males, have any say in whether or not such things "should be" offensive is absurd. Let's move beyond racism and stereotyping, and embrace a new mascot.
