We should be embarrassed to live in Massachusetts. As a state we have not passed a single measure to protect victims of human trafficking! The Polaris Project, a nationally known anti-trafficking organization, rates Massachusetts as one of the worst states in the U.S. regarding anti-trafficking laws. Fortunately, we do not live in China. We live in one of the most progressive states, in one of the freest societies in history. We have the freedom to petition our law makers to right this terrible injustice. Let me be clear. There are women and children in our state who are raped multiple times on a daily basis. The average starting age for a prostitute is 12-15 years old. In a free and democratic society the guilt for social problems rests squarely on the shoulders of the citizens. With such a profound tragedy at our door step apathy is not an option. Please, sign this petition and use your voice to speak for the voiceless.
