This is a petition to abolish property (real estate) taxes. Everyone is welcome to sign, and Ohio residents are especially encouraged to sign. Property taxes are the cruelest taxes of all. They have no relationship to the taxpayer\'s ability to pay.   They are an anachronism from an agrarian past, when land ownership was a source of farm income and only property owners could vote. Today property owners, especially senior citizens and others on low or fixed incomes, are being taxed out of their homes. Most of the property taxes go the the public (government) schools, which can and should be privatized. (See sepschool.org for information on separating school and state.) The remaining government programs supported by property taxes can either be cut, privatized, or funded by other sources, such as user fees. Please sign the petition to end the tyranny of property taxes.
