| 4557 | I am signing this petition because I strongly believe that the slaughter of ANY animal is wrong. No animal deserves to be cruelly killed for humans greed.
But what it is not mentioned is that these animals should never be bred for our use and our entertainment. Racing horses is a cruel selfish sport. And once these horses are no longer winning or able to race then they are slaughtered. How about not breeding them for this sport to begin with. What right do we have to exploit them in this way? Just as little right as we do to slaughter them.
And I although I do love horses and know from experience that they are gentle sensitive souls, so are many other animals (all animals in fact). I have had the opportunites to have close relationships to cows, pigs and chickens. All with their own personalities and sensitivities. So why not slaughter a horse when these animals are being slaughter by the hundreds of thousands everyday?
I realize that the issue at hand today is the slaughter of horses, but it should never be said that they are more special than another species. They are all innocent and suffering. |

Ragsdale, asking for permission to open a horse slaughter plant in Arkansas. His facts contained in this bill are all wrong, there is no federal transportation regulation on horses being shipped to slaughter and zoos no longer feed horsemeat but have converted to beef. He obviously is not up-to-date on laws pertaining to horse slaughter. |
