Name: Bo Adan on Jun 20, 2009Comments: I recognize that we U.S. citizens as a whole presume "prisoners" held at GitMo and elsewhere to be, therefore, guilty of an assortment of heinous crimes. Some probably are; certainly, some are NOT. We have an obligation, not merely as U.S. citizens but as human beings, first not to torture those who are incarcerated and no longer may harm anyone, and second to use legal means (habeas corpus, due process, et al.) to afford those held the legitimate means to defend themselves in courts of law. In any case, but certainly in the current case(s) of GitMo detainees, many of whom were picked up willy-nilly in the streets and/or sold for bounty--as opposed to caught in the act of some crime or in possession of some incriminating evidence--must be afforded the HUMAN rights and dictates of U.S. and international law to defend themselves against evidence and/or lack of evidence that has resulted in their years(!) of imprisonment.Flag

Name: Joan F. Walsh on Jun 20, 2009Comments: The U.S. is responsible for the prolonged, illegal detention of hundreds of innocent men and adolescent boys at Guantanamo. Therefore, the U.S. should take responsibility for resettling all innocent men who cannot, for whatever reason, return to their home countries. Why are we such cowardsFlag

Name: Ellen Kaufmann on Jun 22, 2009Comments: Please act on the truth & not on media fear ongering. Most detainees are no threat to anyone, To say that no country other than Bermuda would accept the Uigers is false. A community of other Uigers in West Virginia, as well as Florida was ready to accept them.Flag

Name: Joelle Adlerblum on Jun 23, 2009Comments: Please release all men known to be innocent, such as the Uighurs. The Uighurs deserve to be released and settled in the U.S. which bought them from bounty hunters. Any prisoners for whom there is real evidence of criminal terrorist activities should be tried in civilian courts, represented by their lawyers. Both release and legitimate trials are long overdue and must not be delayed further. Please do everything in your power to bring them about now. Sincerely, Joelle AdlerblumFlag
