Name: Natalie Ward on Sep 30, 2002State: ILCountry: USComments: I think that the 17 billion dollars a year used to fight the war on drugs would be better spent in our country's exceptionally poor public education system. Do not ear mark it for "drug programs", pay our teachers, provide for our students! Violent offenders need to be in jail, not pot heads!Flag

Name: Jadrien Rylee on Oct 2, 2002State: CACountry: USComments: Why do I have to worry about being arrested if I smoke a marijuana joint, while long-term and/or violent criminals can often either get their cases thrown out of court on technicalities, or cooperate somewhat in bringing one of their cohorts down and get a slap on the wrist Drugs, particularly "soft" drugs such as marijuana and hashish, are NOT addictive, nor are they any more harmful than the burgers, colas, and other processed foods we all consume on a daily basis!Flag

Name: Stacey Slack on Oct 11, 2002State: INCountry: USComments: I agree with this 100% and know we could work out laws like they have with alcohol for punishment purposes. Our government would make just as much money by taxing the drugs just as they do alcohol and tobacco. So there would be no money loss, which I believe is a major reason why drugs aren't legal now. I personally don't even do drugs, but still believe this is a wonderful idea. As stated it will help with amount of people in prison as well, and honestly no one needs to go to prison for some weed. We really could work out laws so most people would be happy with this.Flag
