Comments: If America wanted to stop the drug wars the quickest way would be for every American to not buy, sell or take them. I understand the reality of that every happening, but if there is no market for these drug dealers and manufacturers then they would have no business. Stop the business stop the war on drugs. If only it could be that simple!

Comments: The problem I see is that the US gov't no longer listens to the people it's suppose to serve. A majority of the US population would vote for the legalization of Marijuana and the Feds won't hear of it. Which says to me that The American citizen's vote doesn't count...

Comments: It is ridiculous jailing people for possession of marujuana. The rest of the World thinks the US War on Drugs is a joke. Time to grow up and deal with the real criminals.

Comments: The War on Drugs, as defined by Bush Sr., as well as the current War on Terrorism as defined by Bush Jr., must BOTH be put to an end. They are only tools of people who would seek to strip the rights of the American people -- the rights for which many people lost their lives in fighting for their independence. Let us not make their sacrifices worthless. They didn't sacrifice their lives so that we could laud it over the unfortunate. They sacrificed their lives so that we could have a better way of life. If all we're doing is to show off our "better way of life", then whatever befalls us befits us.

Comments: The CIA and the US government have long been in cahoots with drug dealers. William Bennett, that dreary fraud, was a "Drug War Czar" while promoting tobacco, a very dangerous substance. The "drug war" is a sleazy battle waged against the poor in the US and around the world.

Comments: Please just consider the economic costs of these two approaches, not the political. Intelligent decisions aren't always the most popular, but making the right decision will win many over in a relatively short time.

Comments: My cousin was imprisioned for possessing and using drugs. He never attempted to sell them. He also suffered from severe depression and acute schizophrenia. By being in jail he did not receive the proper treatment he so desperately needed. The judicial system failed and he is now dead. He killed himself shortly after being released.
