Daylight Saving was foisted upon the Western Australian public by the Liberal and Labor politicians on December 3, 2007. The Nationals WA, the voice of the country stood up in the WA Parliament to block the legislation, but were overwhelmed by the numbers. There was no public consultation, whatsoever, and the only concession from the Carpenter Government was the promise of a referendum in 2009. The Nationals WA will contest the 2009 State election as an independent Party seeking to win the balance of power in the WA Parliament. The Nationals are a pro-development and progressive political party and pledged to getting a fairer go for people who choose to live, work, and invest in regional WA. We want to give people a chance to be represented when important decisions are made in the State Parliament, unlike what happened with the Daylight Saving Bill. There is a massive groundswell against this three-year trial and if you want to express your opinion, please take a moment to sign our petition.
