Name: Shaylee Walter on Jul 4, 2007Comments: Breed Specific Legislation does not solve the nations problems with dangerous dogs because it does not address the real problem. The owners, the ones who allow this kind of behavior to continue. And with further allow it to continue when their breeds are outlawed because any animal (breed) can become dangerous when in the wrong hands. End breed specific legislation and deal with the real problem.Flag

Name: Jason Law on Jul 5, 2007Comments: BSL havs already proven to not work. Instead many innocent dogs that were never any problem were taken from their familys and murdered. It is time this goverment used some common sence and target the people who make a dog dangerous in the first place. Dangerous dogs should be put to sleep but not an entire breed due to the grooming of sick people.Flag

Name: Takiyah Daly on Jul 5, 2007Comments: I belive that BSL is the wrong way to go about breeds that can be dangerous in the wrong hands. Banning breeds, doesn't solve the problem, you still have people who own them. All dogs can be dangerous from jack russels to dobermans. I belive that banning breeds still doesn't solve the problem, the problem is that to many people are just breeding to dogs together to make money, not thinking about the temperament. Something needs to be done. Dogs should not be punished for the owners lack of knowledge and actions!Flag

Name: Anonymous on Jul 6, 2007Comments: Yes I believe that BSL is getting out of hand. I think it is punishing the wrong owners and dogs. The criminal element will still practice what they are doing and it is them we want to ban. No dogs are born bad, owners make dogs bad, no matter breed.Only the size makes the damage worse. It is not fare!!! Stop BSL!!Flag

Name: Angela Ventura on Jul 18, 2007Comments: if there is such a massive concern for the community's safety and well being, the states reps should; as 'pillars of the community" take a more active approach to put an end to the situation. The majority of dog owners are more times than none loving concerned parents of their breed. Pitbulls(which i assume are the main focus) are the most intelligent of all breeds known. Surprising to most, pit bulls by nature are known to be their most loving and compassionate with small children when in contrast to adults. Pits are the most loyal, owner pleasing animals over any other breed. With the help of their extremely high threshold for pain, a pitbull would choose to endure immense torture and bleed to death in order to 'please' its owner(hence their dog fighting reputations). One with any intelligence should realize that just as horrible as any fighting dog and its criminal of an owner. A loving, nurturing and responsible owner can produce the utmost loyal, loving, and obedient addition to a family. For any animal guilty of an attack, the finger needs to be pointed at the owner/owners. Raising an animal in a brutal abusive manner results in a brutal ruthless dog. That owner responsible for the particular dog, should be punished, and should never be permitted to own another living thing anywhere. Dogs of ALL breeds are natural born pleasers, lovers, and protectors. An aggressive dog is a result of a violent owner. An animal abuser is an abuser. period. Someone disturbed enough to beat and torture a puppy is disturbed enough to beat and torture a child. Someone disturbed enough to kill an animal is more than capable of killing a person as well. If a problem is growing, why dont you find the root of the problem instead of its offspring.Flag

Name: Shaylee Walter on Jul 18, 2007Comments: BSL is a "short-cut" way to deal with dangerous dogs. But it fails because it does not deal with the real issue, the owners. Any dog, and any breed! can be dangerous if irrisponsible owners are alowed to contiue ownering and abusing animals. Banning a breed/s will not solve the problem, and the problem will not be solved until the ingnorance of bsl is stoped and people begin to deal with the real issue.Flag
