The Syrian civil war has been raging for more than one year and yet still nothing has been achieved and the UN fails to act. With acts of violence directed against the civilian population of numerous towns and cities across Syria including Aleppo, Damascus, Homs and Deraa to name just a few. The Western powers sit around and debate, argue and eventually conclude that nothing can be done and no-one will act. Trade sanctions and stern words have shown to be utterly futile and entirely pointless. Bashar al-Assad and his government does not care what the world says or thinks, his party are intent on one thing. Supreme power with no objections; he will do all he can do maintain this power as we have seen over the past 18 months. The Russians and Chinese persist in denying any action to happen and I say that this is enough. Many thousands of people have already lost their lives, their families, their homes and their livelihoods and the West continue to say, "We cannot act without a UN Resolution". I say, where was that resolution in Iraq? Why has the Kofi Annan's peace plan failed? And why will no one take action for the benefit of fellow human beings? Is humanitarianism just a white lie that we all hide behind? No. Something Must Be Done! The West Must Act!
