I am one of the retired disabled Vets at the Presidio StPVA ("Sword to Plowshares' Veterans' Academy"), 1030 Girard Rd., SF, CA 94129; many of us feel greatly ignored by mgt. here. Sadly, unbeknownst to the public (StPVA receives Federal Funds) -- likely including George Lucas (of "Star Wars" fame, now in pre-production of Episode 7, according to its slated Director, J.J. Abrams) & his team whose building complex is unlikely even 100 yards from here ... it's estimated by some that close to 100% of the 100 Vets housed here are ex-convicts. I was not forewarned prior to moving in, either -- & have only recently found this out from the very solid rumor mill here. WE HAVE NO SECURITY HERE at StPVA. IT'S LIKE LIVING IN A PRISON WITH NO GUARDS. All this is bad enough -- but you are forced to use a shared bathroom with a stranger (many are VERY strange) that sits between both of your 1-room apts. Even at best, this is unlikely suitable for anyone for, potentially, the rest of their lives. But there is often vicious hostility. If we had 100 BRs for 100 men (& a few women), rather than 50 BRs to share, it might be tenable to avoid the #1 cause of severe conflicts here (again, more likely than not, with ex-convicts -- and they rarely have placid demeanors to begin with).
