Each year, the school hosts Big Show. The proceeds go towards cancer reasearch, which in its own right is an incredible and admirable action. However, in the past, our school social committy (herefore referred to as SocCom) has made poor choices in bands. Most recently, they invited 3Oh!3 to be the Big Show headliner - during Sexual Assault Awareness Month nonetheless. If you don't get the distastful relation in that, let me explain. 3Oh!3 is known for their crude, mysoginistic lyrics which objectify women and make them the center of men's lust - perpetuating the rape culture of our society (where it is a woman's job to dress appropriately and not tease a man if she does not want to be raped). Sign this petition and show SocCom and WPI that we will no longer accept bands or other artists in our community that idealize this type of mentality and behavior.
