Members of the House and the Senate should be subject to the same consequences of a government shutdown as the American people. They are representatives sent there by the people and if the people are to suffer for their inability to govern by letting the government shutdown, they should feel the consequences as well. Discontinue immediately their pay, subsidized housing, car and driver and any other benefit and perk that the government pays for, including healthcare benefits. It makes no sense for them to continue to benefit from this type of behavior. If a measure is put in place that immediately puts an end to their pay and benefits, maybe they would try to avoid having this happen again and or certainly resume operations post haste.
