When a person, of any level of sanity is able to plan out, obtain weapons, and use them on innocent people in a public place, or a place of worship, the insanity defense is no longer a defense. If they execute a plan to murder innocent civilians, they are sane enough to face full punishment by society. Cruel and unusual punishment for someone who may or may not know what they are doing, but can get guns, plan an attack, and murder civilians, is more cruel on the victims and a mockery of our justice system. It gives potential murderers a get out of jail free card and helps motivate to kill because they know they may get away with it by pleading insane or having a long trial. Justice for undeniable mass murders should be swift and strong in order to protect the good people of the world.
