President Obama last month quietly signed into law a spending bill that restores the American horse-slaughter industry, just a few months after a government investigation said the ban on slaughtering was backfiring. The domestic ban didn’t end horse slaughter but instead shifted the site of butchery to Mexico and Canada - which meant increased abuse or neglect as the horses were shipped out of the country and beyond the reach of U.S. law.There are many reasons we are fighting so much for these majestic creatures, but there are two main reasons that really pushed us to make this website. One is the way they put the horses "to sleep" the other is the fact that we are doing this to animals that weren't meant to be killed. Has anyone ever told you how they unthinize horses?? Well if you really want to know keep reading, if not then i would just stop here. We are going to start at the beginning of it all, the dreaded trailer. When horses are being put in the trailer they are not tied down so they are free to do pretty much anything they want in the trailers with most likely the 14 other horses that are in there. When one acts out, so do all the rest. They rear, kick, and trample any horse that are in their way or just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Did you know that when 15 to 20 horses are all shoved into one trailer at least 2 horses don't get out of the trailer alive? Many of the horses killed in the trailer are foals, pregnant mares, and the older horses that cant protect them selves. Also if a horse refuses to get in the trailer, they are forced and beaten in. Once at the slaughter house they are scared out of the trailer and usually the first few out get trampled and killed right there. So tell us, is this how earth's gentle giants are supposed to be treated?!
