    Comments: I have 2 kids in Chinese school and know they have been punished for not bringing books to school, not handing in homework and even for simple gesturing. Punishment include pulling ears and hitting on the hands.

    Comments: Teachers should not take it out on the students. Discipline is self control, it starts with the teacher. My daughter inspires to be a teacher one day, she have a ROTAN (ruler is used) whenever she acts like a Teacher.....ALL her school teacher carry a ROTAN to class - what else can I say.

    Comments: I once mentioned in PTA meeting that there are ways other than caning or punishment to get kids' cooperation. But if u are in the teachers' shoes, how would u cope when u have to deal with 50 kids single-handedly everyday, in addition to the mountain of paperwork? In my opinion, it is the whole school system that has to change, beginning with recruiting good teachers, provide proper training, adjust salary accordingly and so on. Ideally each class shouldn't have more than 25 students.
