James Lindsay will be eligible for Parole on 31st January 2013

As Emma's parents we will be asked to submit written objections before the end of October 2012. We hope to use this petition to lobby members of the Scottish Executive who would be involved in decision making regarding the release of convicted killers. This petition will be sent to the Scottish Ministers before the Parole Board sits in January 2013.

On the 30th September 1995 James Lindsay murdered Emma Thomson aged 15. He was sentenced to a minimum of 15 years in prison of which he has only spent several months. The rest of the time he has spent in the State Mental Hospital at Carstairs.

At his Life Review to determine the length of sentence Lord Hamilton made a statement saying that "James Lindsay did not Murder Emma Thomson. He executed her"

At his last appeal Lord Rogers who was at that time Lord Chief Justice General, stated that, James Lindsay was now classed as an untreatable Psychopath. Lord Rogers also stated that he would be making a recommendation that any parole board in the future should consider very carefully ever releasing James Lindsay as he has admitted to Doctors that if he is ever released he "will kill again".

We strongly believe that James Lindsay by his own admission still poses a very real threat and, that he should not be released to fulfil his promise to kill another innocent member of the public.
