Name: Lydia M. on Nov 21, 2003State: MICountry: USComments: STAND UP sis! I have yet to hear an apology from Eminem for his comments. He is a misogynist and a homophobe. Are we all really surprised he could be a racist as well Why haven't any black rappers spoken out about this I'll tell you why, because they do the same things and they are sellouts who are scared to get bumped off the gravy train. In addition, I am tired of the way so many black rappers degrade black women in their music as well. Ladies, take a stand and do not patronize this music just for a good beat. Kt's about respect. Because : NO BLACK WOMAN=NO BLACK RACE=NO HIP HOP PERIODFlag

Name: Octavia Finch on Nov 21, 2003State: TXCountry: USComments: I am offended by the racist comments that were made against black women. Eminem was in his 20's when he made the tape, he cannot use the excuse that he was young and stupid. I am 20 now and thats an ignorant excuse to make. I dont believe there was a black girlfriend, even if there was he could have made a track that spoke directly to her instead stereotyping all black women. I am not shocked nor surprised that this comes from him I am completely offended as I am any time I hear rappers of any race speak negatively about women, but to state that one particular race of women are better than another goes beyond the level of disrespect and into the realm of racism.Flag

Name: Crystal Dorsett on Nov 21, 2003State: FLCountry: USComments: I think his remarks were disgusting. Everyone has a right to there opionion but I feel like "we" have been fooled by this wolf in sheeps' clothing. How could someone who flocks to Blacks completely detest them 10 or 15 years before Could he please answer this honestly and not with the PR crap that was issued this week. He makes angry songs about his wife and mother and has never(to my knowledge) called them crackers or honkeys. His excuses are very weak.Flag

Name: Ginelle Roach on Nov 21, 2003State: NYCountry: USComments: I say enough is ENOUGH! Black women have been the target of one too many disparaging and disrespectful lyrics and now the "Elvis of Hip-Hop" felt justified in taking potshots as well because he was supposedly spurned by an ex-girlfriend who is black. The excuse doesn't hold water. I say, to hell with Eminem and ALL rappers who demonize black women. Not a penny will be spent to support those that disrespect my sisters, aunts, nieces, friends and mother any longer!Flag

Name: Rhonda Outlaw on Nov 21, 2003State: NYCountry: USComments: Eminmem was clearly wrong in what he said, but he didn't start this. Black rap artists started it, and opened the floodgates for Whites and "others" to insult Black women. Black rap artists have basically sold us out for a few trinkets and some spinning rims. They have, along with Eminem, have raped, degraded and defiled Black women on cd. We as Black women have no one to turn to, to defend our honor, because our own men have made it fashionable to dishonor us; thus have given permission for others to do so. Therefore, I will no longer support any rap music that defiles the honor of Black women.Flag

Name: Shalene Bridgers on Nov 21, 2003State: NJCountry: USComments: I am sick and tired of the lyrics geared towards women in general. This situation reall brought it home for me because I feel it is the prevailing climate in hip-hop that opened the door for Em's comments. If rappers weren't calling women degrading names to begin with, he would not have felt it was OK to say these things. I am tired of hip-hop's attitudes towards women and I am ready to fight for a change.Flag

Name: Kamitra Turner on Nov 21, 2003State: NJCountry: USComments: Eminem says that this tape was made, because he was hurt by a black girl. Eminem has also said that he was hurt by his white wife. Any songs that were made out of rage or not, towards her were not directed toward all white women, so why direct anger to all black women because of one.Flag

Name: Candy Harris on Nov 21, 2003State: FLCountry: USComments: I'm a black female and I found the tape M&M made highly offensive. I'm also offended by the fact that the statement he released sounded like a brush-off. Eminem, his supporters and the hip-hop communtiy as a whole need to wake up and realize that black females are sick and tired of the degradation and it's time something is done. Since the rappers and 'leaders' like Russell Simmons tend to brush the issue aside and also go as far as to hold a press conference to speak on our behalf without asking our opinions, I think that they should be the first ones to find out how we really feel. We're fed up. Since they don't seem to hear any other way, let's hit them where it really hurts, their pockets.Flag

Get it straight, this is BIGGER than just Eminass. This is about my people taking back their PRIDE, DIGNITY and SELF-RESPECT. We just decided to start with Eminass.Flag
