Name: Lisa Thomas on Jun 16, 2007Comments/ OR address: The area between Broadway and Patrick is the only path for the kids of Emerson to cross to the other side of town (except for walking along Kinderkamack or Forest.) Do the kids want you to build houses there No-they want the town to mulch their path!Flag

Name: Rose Marie Azmi on Jun 16, 2007Comments/ OR address: It is time to stop things from just "happening" in Emerson without all of the residents being informed and constented. You can not keep taking all of our open spaces, it is not right. Most of this moved to this town because we like it the way it is. We already have enough kids in our schools, we don't want the class size to grow, we already have enough conjestion in our down town. Politicians need to stop siding with the builders and people making money off of the open areas of our town disappearing.Flag

Name: Gary T. Solimando on Jun 18, 2007Comments/ OR address: I bought my house on Broadway because of the golf course view and it is a nice quiet street. As a lifelong resident and a member of a family who has been in this town for over 100 years,I am tired of relative newcomers thinking that they can make our town better by inconveniencing others. What happens to my property value when a McMansion is put up across from me on a postage stamp piece of land What happens to my quality of life I guess that does'nt matter to anyone but me. Why not get downtown under control, and that will increase our ratables by a substantional amount I would think. How much will a handful of houses benefit our town as opposed to a lot of businesses DO NOT LET THIS HAPPEN!!Flag

This small town government is out of control and must be kept from doing whatever they want, with little regard for the citizens of Emerson. Best regards, Frank HillsFlag

Name: Amy Denekamp on Jun 18, 2007Comments/ OR address: We have a 3 year old son and are already very concerned about the traffic on Ackerman, living on the corner of this busy street. Adding more houses and opening up the traffic on our little side street would be devastating to us. We would definitely have to consider moving and leaving all of our friends and our son's friends in the neighborhood. There are currently 6 children under 5 years old in houses surrounding our house on Walnut, which connects to Broadway. The development proposal puts all of our children in harms way and is truly despicable.Flag

Name: Sabine Shike on Jun 19, 2007Comments/ OR address: Let's keep Emerson green and respect people's choice to live in a quiet neighborhood for which they had to pay quite a lot. It is better to "relocate" a building project in planning than to frustrate all those who have manifested their dreams already.Flag

Name: Lorraine McQueeney-Milich on Jun 20, 2007Comments/ OR address: There is no justification whatsoever for building on this paper street. The residents in that area have the right to maintain the quiet enjoyment of their land. If the town won't do anything about the many illegal dwellings, housing the scores of illegal immigrants, (has any inspector gone to the white house on the corner of Hasbrouck and Linwood lately, to see how many "sleeping areas" have been created by the most recent owner ), why not try enacting an ordinance that would tax a residence based upon a head count How's that for rateables May I suggest the following ordered list of priorities for Mayor Lamatina: 1. Stop interfering with the progress of the downtown revitalization, so that it isn't another 2-5 years before the shopping center is completed. We have enough "white elephants" in town. An unfinished project doesn't need to be another one. 2. Enforce existing ordinances as to dwelling types or enact stronger ones. There shouldn't be ANY illegal immigrants being encouraged to live here. I don't think too many Emerson residents want this town to end up looking like downtown Hackensack or Paterson. It's long past time for a clean sweep, which should really be a combined effort between our town police force, the County Police force and the INS. 3. Maintain the existing town parks the way they should be: How many more pieces will the sign at Sunset (Rosengart Memorial) Park be allowed to be broken into by teen vandals, before it's removed and/or replaced What if the Rosengarts were to see the shameful way it looks now How do you think that would make them feel While you're at it, get rid of the water fountain that doesn't work, and make sure the garbage can is emptied regularly, so that the litter doesn't overflow, the stench from rotting food doesn't overpower visitors, and bee infestation is kept at a minimum. 4. Keep the litter (which has markedly increased since January) on town streets and property to a minimum, by making sure that the people who pick up the recyclables aren't leaving almost as much debris on the streets as they're getting into their trucks. I walk down Ackerman Avenue daily to take the train. Never before have I seen the bottles, cups, paper and assorted litter in the gutters and on the sidewalks, that I see today. How about doing something about that Once items 1. through 4. have been completely addressed, perhaps then the focus can be on increasing rateables. Until such time, it is strongly suggested that priorities are straightened out.Flag
