Do email petitions really work?

This is a petition designed to question the effectiveness of online petitions. I receive numerous email petitions in my inbox each day and it seems unlikely to me that there could be a way of managing such questions and responses. Because the original emails are so disseminated throughout the internet, wouldn't the lists become repetative? And who sends them back to the original sender? Maybe I'm just being naive though, and I would like to see in the results of this petition whether or not my own conclusions are valid. I hope to write an article for the paper regarding my findings. If you agree that online petitions are a waste of time, please sign this petition. Thank you.

Sincerely
Elizabeth Goodwin
