Hello to all, My name is Katherine Beloff and I am currently working on a project to change the grading system of the Florida Comprehensive Achievement Test, also known as FCAT. For those who are unaware, the FCAT is a Florida State standardized test which requires all students from grades 3-10 to pass in reading, writing, and mathematics. The problem with the examination is that if a student does not have a passing grade, they have to retake the test next year on top of the test for the current year. Also, schools receive money rewards for high passing grades, which leads to teachers teaching towards the test. Schools with low grade do not receive any help, making it difficult for schools to help their students.
