As it stands, the current system of common unit assessments (CUA) is too restrictive. It hampers the ability of teachers to teach units their own way and challenge students. We propose a system that allows teachers more freedom by allowing them to either make changes to the CUAs -where the CUA would act as a guide on what concepts to cover- or to simply create their own tests. In addition, we believe that the current system does not do enough to prepare students for college education.
