Name: Anonymous on Jan 5, 2012Comments: I am in favor of fiscal responsibility for part time public service. A very generous $50,000 salary should be plenty of incentive (or offset of "inconvenience) for a voluntary part time public service position. Anyone who suggests they require what are essentially full-time career benefits as an incentive to do the volunteer work should consider a different way to spend their volunteer time. Each and every politician who doesn't openly support this should be required to account for their position, especially if they espouse the importance of "difficult cuts" and "financial sacrifice" during these "difficult economic times." For them to continue to ask the taxpayers to fund extravagant and unwarranted benefits (for a lifetime in the case of their pensions) is patently absurd.Flag

Name: Ron Sandack on Jan 7, 2012Comments: This is the right thing to do. Serving the County is a part-time endeavor and part time service oriented endeavors should not get full-time benefits. I am 1 of 4 members of the General Assembly who declined to participate in the legislative pension and health care plans and am the lone sponsor of the bill to end all legislative pensions going forward. http://www.ilga.gov/legislation/BillStatus.asp?GA=97&DocTypeID=SB&DocNum=2498&GAID=11&SessionID=84&LegID=62087Flag

Name: Zachary C. Wilson on Jan 7, 2012Comments: I completely agree we should eliminate all benefits beyond a salary for all elected parttime legistative officials. I also believe we should cut our salaries by no less than what we would cut from subordinate staff employees. As a Trustee of Lombard I have diligently worked toward reducing wasteful or unneccessary spending. When elected to the County Board, I will continue those endeavors in that arena. I will not vote for any tax increases and will vote to put the county back on the right fiscal track.Flag
