Currently electricity prices are 12.7 c/kWHr. With the new meters this will increase to 35.64 cents/kWh for 2pm to 8pm on working weekdays. That's nearly a threefold increase. The Government should at least maintain electricity charges at the present level. In fact, since they will no longer have to pay people to read meters, they should reduce charges.
