Comments: Every time a new telepnone is installed in our subdivision, some other phone service is disconnected. We had to wait 4 days to have our service restored. So many twisted pairs are now bad in the old outdated cable. Ask your installers about the hours wasted in this search. Most days an installer is seen working at the entrance box to our subdivision in this endless search. Fiber optics is to our subdivision but you penny pinchers havn't installed it in our subdivision.

Comments: The availability of broadband - and the lack thereof - is a huge factor in whether or not I can telecommute for my job, thus saving on the use of fossil fuels, additional traffic on narrow country roads and the general stresses on the infrastructure of the county. We pay the rates for service as do city customers and should be given the same consideration for adequate service.

Comments: Started out in 1986 @ 2.4 kbs, incrementally up'ed to present 28.8, though hovering, most of the time, around 17 kps acc to cnet and pcpitstop. Photos etc often take hours to download. This is 20 years of progress for you. Slooooow going, dont you think At age 68, I've finally reached the sad conclusion that I will not live to see high-speed internet here in rapidly growing Pleasant Valley. Very disappointing, indeed. If the people in "the know" would only be more decisive and give us a real time-table (wait-table), then we could look more realistically into the satellite-option. Or, who knows, maybe wi-fi tower on a hill-top might be more viable.

Comments: Broadband Internet access has become a necessary part of being able to adequately conduct business, schooling and even personal/family communication. At some point the aging cable plant of El Dorado County will need to be replaced as it reaches capacity or ages beyond serviceable limits. I strongly urge at&t to consider installing the facilities for delivering the next generation of bundled services where basic broadband would be just beginning.

Comments: Signing a petition is good, but we need to put pressure on AT&T through the government boards that grant utilities the ability to have a monopoly. El Dorado County Board of Supervisors, California Public Utility Commission, the Governor, etc. T.U.R.N. is willing to help us if we are willing to get active. AT&T will move to serve us with broadband when it is in their (not our) best interests to do so. Somehow we have to make them want to provide us with better service by having our political representitives do our talking. So far, Governor Schwarzenegger has appointed CPUC members that give AT&T all that they want. Will another Governor reverse this trend We need to speak up at debates and in the news.
