Name: Rory Hoipkemier on Mar 7, 2008Comments: no one is opposed to development, but this project is way out of line in terms of size, height and negative effects on greenspace and increase in traffic through very nice old neigborhoods. we are more than happy to work with organic, appropriate developmentFlag

Name: Brenda Foster on Mar 7, 2008Comments: One of my chief concerns is the height of the main building being proposed. I didn't move to East Lansing to live in a "city". I really like the small-town feel of East Lansing that still has lots of amenities to recommend it as a wonderful place to live. I really don't like the threat of eminent domain being used on affected property owners. I am very disappointed that this would even be considered.Flag

Name: Stephen W. Osborn on Mar 7, 2008Comments: The proposal as drawn up by Ledy Assoc. for CADA Inv. Grp. is too large, too dense, with buildings too tall, as a result of a flawed planning process, involving unwise procedures. Although there are some valid public improvements which could be accomplished in the area, they could better be accomplished by much more reasonable means and plans, which could be addressed only by first rejecting the present plan.Flag

Name: Brian Hagan on Mar 7, 2008Comments: I am not opposed to development, I am opposed to this development. In particular the role the City has taken on; being the developer and attempting property aquisition. This is not working on current projects and should not be the role of City government or City staff in any development. By taken on this role they have created a battle of the City versus its own citizens. What happened to a developer proposing a project ON HIS OWN without City staff doing crowd control for them If the taxpayers don't want it then it's the obligation of the City to act on the taxpayers behalf. Reject this development, it's not what it seems and in the end our city will not get what it wants downtown.Flag

Name: Mark Luebker on Mar 7, 2008Comments: Our city government has become a little more, ah, entrepreneurial than I'm comfortable with. Why not leave developing to the developers and get back to providing services and support for those of us who already are here, paying taxes.Flag

Name: Julia A. Moulton on Mar 7, 2008Comments: A couple of years ago I was at a meeting in the City Hall. Actually it was the historical club. The discussion was Virginia 600 block. I live across the street living in the duplex I own. A staff member said adamantly at that meeting Eminent Domain was not happening. If you don't want to sale your property don't. They have gone back on their word.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Mar 7, 2008Comments: The height on the tallest building is WAYYYY to tall. Traffic will be a disaster. the inhabitants are going to be like mice in a cage, with no real connection to the rest of the neighborhood. no museum or anchor on board yet. the public park is being diminished. historic homes lost for a parking ramp which for some reason we the citizens will be paying for not the developer. developer recieving a carte blanche to do whatever is right for their pockets, NOT the citizens! Logic, reasoning and just pure common sense will prevail, this project will be scaled down, our concerns will be listened to, changes will happen, i am positive of that.Flag

Name: Brian Hagan on Mar 12, 2008Comments: There has not been enough significant change in my mind. Still nothing officially for sale. Supposedly the market is going to dictate. It doesn't take a genious to figure out real estate is not selling. Students rent a year in advance at high rates. It is obvious what the market will dictate. We will have government subsidized student rentals. One thing I will say; removing 404 Evergreen from the project was a step in the right direction.Flag

Name: Sue Morris on Mar 12, 2008Comments: I hope the City of East Lansing will consider pursuing this project with balanced input from residents of Oak Hill Neighborhood and East Glencairn Neighborhood. I envision a People-friendly, Earth-friendly, Aethetically pleasing space. I believe that the City, the Developer and the People can collectively create and manage this.Flag

Name: Amy Moore on Mar 26, 2008Comments: I am opposed as eminent domain being used to develop any of this property. I am not opposed to development and progress in East Lansing's downtown, but would encourage the developer, to use their time and money to promote the development. I also encourage the City of East Lansing to spend city energy on promoting work that is essential to the function of city business; not promoting the developers opinion or goals.Flag
