Dear President Morsi, Former Egypt president Mubarak allowed human trafficking of Africans in Egypt. So we were very pleased when he was forced out by the democratic movement. Because, we hoped a democratic Egypt will not tolerate such gruesome violation of human right. But we are sad to report to you that your government seems to have maximized the atrocities to a shocking proportion. Under your watch, Egypt has become a hub for a booming human trafficking business. Unlike other traffickers Egyptians are not interested in using their captives as slave laborers or sex workers. The traffickers in Egypt are from a Bedouin tribe in Sinai near Israel border. These traffickers are not shy to admit their line of work and they are well known in their community. The victims are mainly Eritreans but occasionally include Ethiopians and Sudanese citizens. The families of victims are asked to pay ransom as high as $40,000 per person. The majority of victims are kidnapped from a refugee camps in Sudan and transported to Egypt. The business is very lucrative; it involves many actors including corrupt Egyptian officials, Sudanese boarder patrols as well as Rashaida tribe men operating in Eritrean and Sudanese boarder region. But unfortunately, most victims don’t have the resource to raise that type of money so they will be exposed to horrific abuse including rape, torture, burning and other forms of abuse. In some occasions organs are removed from victims to sell it to wealthy patients. Please refer to BBC and CNN documentary reports to learn more about the systematic abuse of Africans at the hands of Egyptian traffickers. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-21670929 or http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zcxGwRIn-2w To get a glimpse of how victims are kidnapped, watch this footage http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e4ydBy4mERI To get a glimpse on how captives are tortured, watch the below footage http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=endscreen&v=aXBfmxkMrdY&NR=1 In conclusion, we concerned Citizens of the world plead with you to take the following actions. • To take an immediate action to stop the human trafficking in Egypt. • To free all captives and set them free • To bring human traffickers and their enablers to justice Respectfully yours
