The purpose of this petition is to raise awareness and voice concern about the Cleveland State University course ETE 501, Technology Strand. This course is a requirement of multiple master's education programs. The course content consists of basic computer skills that include: Navigating an operating system (Windows or OSX), taking screen shots, performing basic internet searches, performing basic research, formatting an APA document, and creating a PowerPoint presentation.

While these skills are necessary and important to all future/current educators, the vast majority of master's students enter their specific programs with these skills already mastered. As the cost of education is already high and ever increasing, it is important that Cleveland State remains up-to-date on what courses are relevant to their student base. This petition calls for the reform of ETE 501, or the option for future CSU master's students to test out of the course if they can prove proficiency. Please help future students and fellow educators by signing this petition and bringing this issue to the awareness of Cleveland State.

Thank you.
