I am a frequent taveler for business and utilize my iPad for reading eBooks instead of carrying bulky versions of the written works. Through this I hope to find others that are fed up with the airlines telling us that we cannot use our devices during taxi, take off and landing. Even if the device is in "Airplane Mode" we are still told that the device must be fully powered off and stowed. I understand the principal behind the policy that not every person will turn off the wifi and bluetooth connections and the times that airplanes are most vulnerable are during take off and landing so it is best to limit the number of possible distractions. In this modern time when we know that a cell phone will not blow up a gas station, isn't it about time that we make the airlines realize that an eReader, Kindle, iPad or any other type of device is not a threat and should be approved for use at anytime during the travel experience. My target for this petition is only 15,000 signatures and I hope to have the majority of those be regular business travelers like myself that have a standing with any airline frequent flyer programs, however I encourage anyone to sign to help reach the goal so we can at least start to make the airlines realize that new devices shouldn't be feared but embraced for the sake of keeping their loyal customers happy.
