Comments: I am signing this petition to propose clarification of the bill set to pass by the CPSIA in an attempt to keep small businesses and handmade toymakers and other children's product crafters immune to the testing regulations. I believe that the CPSIA is in place to prevent harmful materials from existing in children's products, but that the strict guidelines are unrealistic to the efforts of small businesses and stay-at-home crafters.

Comments: The practice of allowing certain chemicals to be added to jewelry, clothes and numerous items pertaining to children has to stop. We are putting our children in danger and the E PA has to step up to the plate and elimiate anything harmful that can affect our childrens lives.

Comments: All I have to say is I really wanted to start my own little business and what I had in mind was dying onsies and stenciling some designs onto them to sell. Which I don't get how this would need to be tested since all the items I would be using would be all purchased from the store, so why should this law affect me if it's already been tested in order to be sold in major retailers.

Comments: I would think that in this time of economic crisis the government would be embracing small businesses and work at home moms and dads. I'm saddened that this means I will most likely have to close up my shop, and send my son to daycare so that I can go back to work, just so my family can eat.

Comments: Unless this Act is drawn up with far greater clarity regarding the true concerns over which the CPSIA was founded, the negative impact will devastate countless businesses and individuals across the nation. The core supply of these dangerous products do not reside on our shores, therefore creating laws for which the innocent must pay the price will do far more harm than any good. Instead of stemming the tide of unsafe merchandise from it's primary source, we will be penalizing the people who are not the problem - forcing thousands to join the ranks of the unemployed and bankrupt.

Comments: This will cause many woman to have to leave the home and their families to seek work outside the home. Our country already has an unemployment issue and this will make that situation worse. It is a way of life for many to enjoy handmade, unique items that are not mass produced and pride themselves from buying items made here in the US while keeping mom's at home doing what they love. I feel that this is devastating on many levels for so many women and families.

Comments: As a military spouse I not only have our business as a extra form of income but it allows me to use my frustration and fears associated with my husbands career as a gateway. I understand that there are concerns of lead as there have been so many recalls in the past years but by passing this law you will be affecting so many other business woman who use their crafts and small business as a way to feel needed outside their position as a mom and wife. I urge you to consider us and speak on our behalf. We relay on our crafts and small business as a relaxing tool and also a business venture for those who can not work outside of the home. We need a voice and urge you to please speak on our behalf. This law will put us out of business and create a bigger debt ratio for all of us who have thousands of dollars in materials we use for our products. By allowing this law to pass we lose the ability to afford to use these materials and thus puts us in debt and creates stress, tension and family problems. Please speak on our behalf and reconsider this law!
