21769 Liisa B. Wilson, President LB Wilson Custom ClothingThis opressive legislation will put many small designers and manufacturers such as myself out of business. Gone will be the start-ups, the innovators, the small business that is supposedly the backbone of the US economy.

21772 Heather GraefI have been planning to design one-of a kind apparel for young children, and will not be able to do this if testing each item is required. There is no way independent clothing designers will survive a law like this.

21782 Daniel & Cindy RijoThe redundancy of testing the component by the manufacturer of the article of clothing and NOT the manufacturer of the component is absolute lunacy. For example, I use Velcro in one of the hats we manufacture. However , that Velcro from that one particular lot will be tested hundreds of time if not thousands of times when it in fact needed to be tested only once; AT THE TIME IT WAS MANUAFACTURED IN THE VELCOR MANUFACTORING FACILITY. And why on earth would you be required to test the same lot of Velcro on different styles or sizes? I fully support that we need to know for the safety of our children the lead level, but the legislation has to have common sense to it. If this is not changed, like many others we will no longer make children clothing, and the direct loss of jobs will occur. I expect better than this from my tax dollars!
