In the UK, a mother is able to split up a family and abandon her partner, job, home and remove settled children from schools (without warning to her partner, or good reason). She can then secure maintenance payments via the CSA (consultation with her ex) and then claim all the benefits on offer. She also has all the rights, support and protection, even though she may not be the better parent. While the father on the other hand, is deemed to inherit the mother's share of the responsibility (as well as his own) with no rights, no emotional or financial assistance, and is left feeling isolated and ostracised as a parent.

I recently read an article online that stated there were approximately 2 million, one-parent families in the UK, and of these, 98% are mothers. I wonder if the figure would be so high if there were restrictions on benefits for parents who 'abandon and remove' in the manner described above.

The aim of this message is to highlight the despicable situation a father could find himself in, at the hands of these callous women and a system that permits and rewards this behaviour.
