Charlotte Clark | This is terrible news. They are a brilliant group and are needed in the area. Local arts funding is important.
Anonymous | In East Anglia we are missed out by a number of touring companies. Eastern Angles provides terrific, original performances, some based on East Anglian stories, which give us wonderful entertainment and a special interest in our area. Their dedication and enthusiasm don't deserve to be penalised - we support them totally.

Anonymous | I cannot understand the Arts Council's decision - this is such an important local cultural group, giving excellent performances. It would be a tragedy if they had to disband.

RH | It would be a great loss for the local community
James Pawsey | This crisis has been stimulated by the enormous demands being put on the funds available from the National Lottery by the repeated demands made by the Oympics 2012, to the excusion of those in the Arts world and many other charities.

Nanette P Brown | I have followed Eastern Angles for 25 years. They are a superb theatre company and enrich this area. Please do not cut their grant.
Ken & Pat Hainsby | Have been entertained by Eastern Angles for many years 'Peddars Way' remains an early memory of their performances. They represent East Anglia in an unique way and the area cannot afford to lose their input.

Barbara Gray | Eastern Angles is an outstanding group of incredible talent which reaches out to people who might otherwise find it difficult to get to a live performance, with new and challenging material. I do my utmost never to miss one of their productions and I have never been disappointed. To lose them is unthinkable.

Anonymous | It is wonderful to be able to see such good live theatre at so many locations around the county. Many people would not be able to access good quality live theatre otherwise. Not everyone has access to a car or is able to travel long journeys to Ipswich.

Sheila Carter | I am a 71 year old Eastern Angles fan and I am so upset that these cuts could prevent Eastern Angles taking their productions to the outlying venues and so denying the people of Maldon, Essex the chance to see these excellent plays.
Pat Hodson | I am the Events Organiser and Membership secretary for Chelmsford theatre Association which has been in existence for 50 and was largely responsible for the provision of live theatre in Chelmsford. We are strong supporters of Eastern Angles and deplore the decision to cut their funding. They are a very versatile and entertaining company and the 50% cut would seriously affect their ability to take their excellent productions to isolated areas of East Anglia.
Mrs J.R. Vallance | I was horrified to hear of the proposed cuts to EA's budget. I do hope this will not mean that the Company is unable to continue. I try to attend every show as they are so well acted.
Sue Manley |
Jane Manning |
Jan Griffiths | Eastern Angles do a fantastic job of bringing all genres of dramatic art to the people of Suffolk. To cut their budget in any way is a travesty - in effect stifling the rich vein of talent this group of dedicated people pool for the benefit of us all.
Robert Russell | Shame on this Government
Paul Harrison | Eastern Angles brings high quality and thought provoking plays to small towns and villages throughout East Anglia. I have learn much about our heritage from these plays and will be saddened if they are lost or if access to them becomes difficult.

Mr. & Mrs. K. D. Steers | We feel that there is little enough "new theatre" being developed, and any less funding would revert to continued re-working of old works. All power to your elbow.
Tim Pike | This smacks of the "urban elite" protecting their own interests and should not be tolerated.

Erin Coolbear |
Jacqueline Tricker | We have loved the Eastern Angles productions in Woodbridge and especially appreciate the local, home-written material. We feel tremendously disappointed to hear about the lack of support from the Arts Council. We will be writing to our MP.

patricia wright | brilliant live theatre, original and so well worth the money. this is one organisation I wholeheartedly support when it comes to funding. I hope the arts council can be persuaded to properly provide for this company doing such valuable work out here in the sticks. east anglians are a deserving minority when it comes to theatre!
Robert Shackle | Expecting a local theatre company like Eastern Angles to "extend their area of coverage" beyond the four counties adjacent to Suffolk is simply unrealistic - perhaps the Arts Council should talk to somebody who has actually RUN a travelling theatre company before making such unrealistic demands?

Robert Mitchell | save our Theatre!
Lis Goddard | No way can they cut your funding. People in outlying areas will be unable to enjoy the excellent theatre that Eastern Angles bring us.
Mrs E Read |
Ellis Artus | Eastern Angles brings excellent live drama to rural communities in the area and is appreciated by all ages. The 50% cut in their funding must be reconsidered.
Julie Bayfield | This group is fantastic and brings great theatre to rural communities. It brings theatre to an audience who may not have access to big cities and towns. Superb and professional acting. Please don't cut it's funding.
Jackie Bennett |
Angela McGlennon | This is a very professional and highly entertaining company that brings much pleasure to the people of east Anglia. Please, please provide funding for this wonderful service to our region.
Martin Richmond-Hardy | Eastern Angles Theatre provides the region with a superb theatrical service encapsulating the history and way of life of East Anglia. They deserve financial support to bring their art and enthusiasm to people at a local level, some of whom may never otherwise enter a commercial theatre.
Anonymous | There is little enough theatre in rural communities and Eastern Angles fulfill this need. it is discrimination in favlour of cities.
