Comments: I think that closing down earnock would have a disasterous effect upon the community not to mention the pupils immediately affected by the plans. Earnock and its surrounding communities will pay dearly in the future for these changes, especially when the council is wasting so much money on its lowest priorities (ie: the "decorations" in the town centre, the failed "italian" cobbling in the bus station which couldn't hold heavy transport oops!) All in all, I think we have to get the council to re-evaliate their priorities.

Comments: I think it is silly to knock down earnock because it will affected lots of pupils in earnock and in other areas which are planning to send their children to Earnock. It will affect other schools, due to crowding and could lead to rivalries and cause even bigger problems. So in short I think they should be fair and provide Earnock with a new building. Thank you. Comments: As a pupil of Earnock High I know that the school has an exellent record in both teaching and results and this is only one of the reasons why Earnock should not be "discontinued". So all i can say is KEEP EARNOCK OPEN

Comments: The "discontinuation" of Earnock High School will not only have a detrimental effect on the excellent standard of teaching within the school but will also be devastating to the local Community Groups who use the School. Earnock High School makes a very important contribution to the local area and its' residents and its' loss would result in a huge void that could never be filled.

Comments: I cant believe they intend to close Earnock! I went to Blantyre High for Latin lessons in 1985, and no offence, but it was a bit grim! And far too far away. Earnock's catchment area means kids can actually WALK to shool or it is a short bus ride. To farm pupils from a very large town out to Blantirr (sic)is madness. Let them come here!!! I am incensed and I dont even live in Hamilton. I hope the petition is successful.

Comments: I am disgusted at the proposal to close Earnock HS. It is an excellent school: my eldest son goes there now and we hope to send our other 2 children there. We don't want them to travel into Hamilton - we bought a house here so they could walk to school. If they take the young people out of our area, they will be taking away its vitality. It isn't fair on the deaf children either, to be sent to Blantyre HS. It has taken years to build up the ethos in Earnock where the deaf pupils are accepted, yet they want to move them! The community must say "NO" to these proposals!

Comments: As a parent of a third year pupil at Earnock High and a P7 pupil at Glenlee primary it causes me grave concern that the counil propose to close Earnock High. I feel that my eldest child's education has been of the highest standards and that the support from the teachers is excellent. I want my younger child to attend Earnock High and not Blantyre High, which is also in another town, firstly becasue of its hugh eductatonal standards and secondly because I do not want my family unit being split between two high schools. I fully support this petition.

Comments: Big surprise. The council bully-boys make their decision first and then have so-called 'consultation'. They then offer a variety of solutions, all of which have the same outcome. Thankfully, they have over-stepped their authority, so maybe if the Scottish Executive are a little less gutless than they usually are, it might be stopped. I'm not holding my breath.

Comments: I was a labour voter, but where have the promises gone I speak of improving the education of the young of this country, you never improve anything by closure of a trusted and tried establishment, unless you are placing in its place something with better quality facilities and surroundings plus easy access, and that should obviously mean in the existing locality serving the same cachment area it was originally designed to serve, I don't see how adding an extra one and a half hours of tiring travelling onto a pupils day is advantagious to his or her education! Comments: I was shocked to hear of the proposed closure of Earnock. It's a great school - the staff are extremely supportive of all the pupils, whatever their interests and level of achievement. With more and more houses being built in the area, the school is becoming MORE essential, not less. The area would suffer immensely if the school were closed.

Comments: I don't see any reason to close this school and integrate it with either Hamilton Gramar or Blantyre High School as it had a very ggod report from the education authorities and it is used for different organisations during the week. I think there is a need for all three school to be retained.
