Name: Rusty Strouth on Nov 12, 2007Comments: This is a joke..."Earned Access" To me, earned access is when you go 10-1, share your conference title, and lead the NCAA in several statistical categories. Earned access is when you are in the top 6 in the region and actually should have earned a playoff spot.Flag

Name: Eric Dabney on Nov 12, 2007Comments: A playoff system should include the top team to compete for a national championship. To select teams that are not of that caliber is rewarding teams for not being equal to the challenge. Denying deserving teams is contrary to the spirit of competition. This rule creates animosity towards conferences that are given a "free pass" to compete. If you did the same thing in the BCS, can you imagine the uproar if an 8 - 3 team from the WAC were selected ahead of a Big Ten team with a 10 -1 record to compete in a BCS BowlFlag

Name: Shawn Graham on Nov 12, 2007Comments: Earned Access let Albany state in the playoffs last year and Valdosta state was left out in the cold And VSU beat ASU head to head. Now how in the world does Earned Access work if you can't beat the people in your region, yet you still don't make the playoffs. I like everything about DII playoffs except this rule. I guess when you complain enough about not making the playoffs eventually somebody will feel sorry for you and make a rule for the complainers to get in.Flag

It is not good for the competition level of the playoffs and it is not good for NCAA Division 2 Football as a whole.Flag

Name: Barry Trent on Nov 12, 2007Comments: I concur with Mr Judd. It is unfair to select weaker teams for NCAA playoffs for any reason. The playoff system should include the top teams - that is what playoff competition is about ! The players, fans and alumni expect more from the NCAA than a flawed and discriminatory selection system.Flag

Name: Jess Fisher on Nov 12, 2007Comments: What happened re c-n is obscene. they were denied access to the playoffs by a very mediocre team with an 8-3 record who had previously canceled a contract to play C-N in the regular season because they knew they would get their a-- beat. This is an award for being mediocre. This is welfare access, which is what you liberals who made up this stupid rule promote. What ever happened to earning something. You earn something by being the best.. The idiots who made this so called earned access rule are total pathetic losers, who I hope the worst happens to. America is supposed to award the best, not award a bunch of mediocre losers.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Nov 12, 2007Comments: Earned Access is not needed. The best should make it to the playoffs, period. It's not "Earned Access", its "Unearned Access". Shaw did not earn the right to be in the playoffs. Carson-Newman is one of the best teams in the nation and should be in with Catawba.Flag
