This is a petition to bring about change to the early academic alert system currently in place at Tarrant County College NW campus. The current system is very callous towards the student and uses scare tactics to try and achieve the desired results. The system should be reworked to use fewer emails that become progressively more firm and should attempt to educate students on why attendance is important. In response to this information, I propose the following strategy for emails sent regarding a student's absence: 1st Absence: No email 2nd Absence:Explain the importance of attending class, professor emails to show concern 3rd Absence:Warn of possible consequences 4th Absence:Warn and recommend immediate action 5th Absence: Most firm; last warning before action is taken
