The university senates officially approved the inclusion of EAC Week in the annual calendar today. Seeing this become a reality for these students moves me deeply. We have secured our platform for growth and now we keep our eyes on the successful implementation of the first cycle.

The East African Community is one of the fastest growing regional
integration block. With a population of more than 136 million there are
numerous opportunities accruing as a result of Integration.

Students can exploit opportunities in the following areas:

1. Education
2. Employment
3. Trade and investment
4. Tourism
5. Intercultural exchange

It is imperative for University administrations to embed the EAC integration in their curriculum and extra curriculum activities.

To begin with, this is a petition to all Universities to include the EAC Week in the respective institution's annual calenders. The EAC Week will create a platform for students, the University administration, the senates and policy makers to increase their awareness, knowledge and understanding of the opportunities presented by the EAC integration and how they can tap into the benefits.

Seeing 250 signatures land on this page reminds me why I started this fight for my fellow students. We are finally building the momentum needed to get our universities to pay attention.

Seeing one hundred people recognize the potential of the EAC to change our future is incredible. I started this because I know how much these opportunities mean for our students and seeing this momentum grow gives me so much hope.

Please make this happen. Knowledge is power and we are really missing out on these opportunities.

Finally someone said it! We need to know what our options are outside these walls. This is long overdue.

DO IT. We need to be part of the bigger picture in East Africa not just sitting in lectures for four years.

Great idea. The integration offers so much for us but the schools keep it all on paper.
