E85 is an abbreviation for an ethanol fuel blend of up to 85%. I won't go into to much detail about the specifics of E85, as most of you are familiar with it in someway or another. There is also an abundant source of information on the internet. Corn is the major crop in which E85 is harvested from. Since E85 is made from corn it is a completely renewable resource; one if the major benefits of Ethanol based fuels. One of the other benefits is that the octane rating is substantially higher than that of petroleum fuels. This is beneficial for those with high performance vehicles or race cars. Let's not forget about the decreased cost to increased performance ratio. As of today 7-22-2011 the cost of E85 at our closest filling station (monroeville PA) is $3.39/gal compared to $3.69/gal. Right now the only major chain that I can think of offering this fuel is Sheetz. As I am sure you are aware of We have three (3) Sheetz stores in close proximity to Oil CIty and none of them carry E85. This petitions goal is to change that. I can see no better place to strive for renewable energy sources than the Oil City area. This area helped to change the world and with your help it can do it again, however small the steps towards the advancement of renewable energy sources.
